About

Hi, I’m Ailene.

Data-Driven Wellness Researcher & Comfort Food Enthusiast

For most of my adult life, I was a “serial dieter.”

You name it, I tried it. Low-fat, high-carb, and especially Keto. I was a master at following rules. I’d lose 10 pounds, feel “successful,” and then inevitably fall off the wagon, confused and frustrated. I was obsessed with the number on the scale, but I was completely disconnected from my own body.

My “Wake-Up Moment”

My “wake-up moment” wasn’t dramatic. It was quiet, frustrating, and happened in my doctor’s office.

I was there for a routine check-up, secretly proud that I’d lost 8 pounds on a strict Keto plan. I was expecting a gold star. Instead, my doctor looked at my lab results with a frown.

Here was the reality check:

  • Yes, my weight was down… but my “bad” cholesterol (LDL) was the highest it had ever been.
  • My blood pressure was still stubbornly high.
  • I was “Tired of Being Tired,” my cravings were out of control, and my “healthy” diet was apparently making my heart health worse.

I left that office feeling betrayed—not by my doctor, but by the “one-size-fits-all” diet culture that promised results but ignored my personal biology.

From Dieter to Data-Tracker

That day, I stopped being a “dieter” and became a “tracker.”

This is where foodtrackergirl.com was born.

I threw out the rigid rulebooks and started my own investigation. As an independent wellness researcher, I began tracking everything—not just calories, but my energy slumps at 3 PM, my sleep quality, my mood, and how I felt after eating specific foods.

My research wasn’t about finding one “perfect” diet. It was about finding the perfect principles for me. I learned to synthesize the best parts of proven strategies:

  • From Low-Carb & Keto: I learned how to finally stabilize my blood sugar and silence the intense cravings that used to rule my day.
  • From the Mediterranean Diet: I learned how to use delicious, vibrant, anti-inflammatory foods to heal my body and feel satisfied.
  • From the DASH Diet: I learned the critical, non-negotiable science of managing sodium to protect my blood pressure and long-term heart health.

My Mission: Real Food for Real Life

This website is my personal notebook, made public. It’s my collection of “wins.”

My mission is to prove that you don’t have to choose between food that’s good for you and food that tastes good. You don’t have to live in a world of bland, boring “diet food.”

Here, you’ll find hearty comfort food makeovers and quick weeknight lifesavers. As a busy professional trying to juggle deadlines and family life (including two very picky eaters!), every recipe must pass the “real life” test in my home.

If it isn’t easy, delicious, and family-approved, it doesn’t make it onto this site.

This is where tracking my food helped me find freedom.

I want to help you find yours too.

Warmly,

Ailene Huett
